  The Ushio-Maru II has been responsible for research and student training in fisheries and oceanography for 30 years, but due to its aging, a new ship will be built in 2021 and transitioned to a new ship in 2022.

    ・Capable of entering shallow fishing ports by reducing the draft

    Data logger system integrated with shipboard LAN to improve accessibility of observation data

    Sanitary areas for women only

    Various energy-saving designs (rudder valves, PWM system) 

    Power supply onboard by shaft generator

    (Running cost reduction by PWM, main generator can be stopped)

    Power supply system from ship to shore to cope with large-scale power outages in the event of a disaster, etc. (100V 90A/equivalent to two ordinary houses)

    ◆Survey and Observation

    Low noise design that meets underwater radiated noise ICES standards for small ships

    Equipped with various fishing equipment such as bottom trawl, tuna longline, bottom longline, drift net, squid fishing, etc.
    

    Equipped with acoustic instruments such as 3-frequency to 6-frequency fish finder, multi-sonar beam, and 1-frequency to 2-frequency Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP).
