Before the launching ceremony, the dock was flooded with water and inspections were conducted, including a heavy inspection of the hull.

Hull: The framework and outer structure of a ship, excluding rigging, engines, etc. The minimum structure required to float on the water.

Heavy inspection...A test to assess the center of gravity and weight, and a test for reinstatement. Tests the inclination and sway of a ship by moving objects.
