         Marine microbes are rich sources not only for biofuel production but also plastics degradation. If better microbial catalysts are discovered, studies using such microbes could contribute to SDGs 2, 4, 5, 13, or 14.

         The United Nations has designated the decade starting in 2021 as the "Decade of Ocean Science," with the aim of contributing to the SDGs. Ocean science, as defined by the UN, includes the field of fisheries.
