Effective Utilization of Collagen and Chondroitin in Fish Processing Byproducts
Artificial breeding of sturgeon
Sturgeon Capture and Individual Identification
Individuals are identified by embedding electronic tags. It's hard to catch a big sturgeon.
Sturgeon Weight Measurement
Sturgeon is placed in a net or held by a human to measure it. Use a fishing scale or scale. After the measurement, subtract the tare amount (weight of net or human) to calculate the weight of the sturgeon.
Sturgeon Biopsy using a Tube
To test the sturgeon's egg maturation and ovulation ability, an incision is made in the fish body and a tube is inserted to remove the egg follicle. After the incision, the wound is sutured.
Sturgeon Biopsy using an Egg Detector
In order to test the maturation ability and ovulation ability of sturgeon eggs, a thick needle (egg detector) is inserted into the fish body to remove the ovarian piece. The advantage is that the sturgeon recovers faster because the incision is smaller.
Culturing Sturgeon Eggs
Eggs are cultivated in a petri dish to test sturgeon eggs for maturation and ovulation.
Egg Collection of Sturgeon
Female sturgeon is given hormones 2 days before egg collection to induce egg maturation and ovulation. After confirming that the eggs have ovulated naturally, press the abdomen to remove the eggs.
Sturgeon Semen Collection
Hormones are administered to male sturgeon from 1 day before semen collection to induce excretion. Collect sperm with a syringe with a tube and store in a chilled state.
Artificial Insemination of Sturgeon
After egg collection, wash the eggs with 1/3 seawater and replace with fresh water. Observe the condition of sperm before artificial insemination. Place the passed sperm on the egg and let it sit for 1 minute for artificial insemination. Eggs are sticky, so dehumidify with 1% urea and 0.1% tannins. After that, it is housed in a hatching jar and waited for hatching while pouring fresh water.
Sturgeon Hatching
Sturgeons spin in eggs before hatching. It may come out of the tail first and start swimming with the egg shell covered. This video was shot in an incubator at 12 ℃.
