Methods of collecting seawater for dissolved oxygen measurement (Introduction)

　Given the rate of decomposition of organic matter (oxygen consumption rate) in seawater, the spatial distribution of AOU can be used to determine the rate of movement of water masses. Since very small differences in AOU need to be detected, the measurement of dissolved oxygen concentration requires rigor. Dissolved oxygen should be measured with meticulous care. Different laboratories have different methods for measuring oxygen, but a slightly loose method is described below.
