Process by Biodegradable Agglutinates
The
diatomaceous earth, ubiquitous clay mineral, suspension is placed in a beaker,
a biodegradable flocculant or aggregating agent made from soy protein is added,
and the beaker is stirred. When
the stirring is stopped, the fine clay particles form flocs, and promptly
settled.

Place
the diatomaceous earth suspension in the beakers and stir. Add
biodegradable flocculant or aggregating agent to the left beaker only.
Magnetic Separation of Blue-green Algae
Blue-green
algae and magnetic iron fine powder are placed in a beaker and stirred well,
and then a solution of flocculant is added under stirring. The blue-green algae
and magnetic iron will flocculate together. (Co-flocculation) The
flocs are collected on a neodymium magnet.
