When I (Oki) was a Ph.D. student, I participated in the research voyage of Tanseimaru (then the University of Tokyo) and was waiting for the attack of kosa in the Pacific Ocean. I wanted to examine the mixing of kosa particles and anthropogenic pollutants. Dr. Uematsu, the instructor, said positively, "If I get on board, something will definitely happen." This "something" is a natural phenomenon that we expect in our observations, or a sudden natural phenomenon that we did not predict. Let's remember, when Professor Uematsu participated in the voyage, there was an eruption on a volcanic island on the wind of a ship, and I think he captured a forest fire plume in Siberia in the Pacific Ocean. Incidentally, Dr. Uematsu brings together the sense of smell to catch the phenomenon firmly and the agility to make it a chucker research result.
Now, if you were waiting for the kosa attack on a ship, the chemical weather forecast (CFORS; Institute of Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University) revealed that a large-scale kosa would be attacked. Professor Uematsu is good at saying, "Look here!""Touch the outside air, your cheeks are rough, oki! I heard kosa. "As I say, ""Doctor, that's not kosa, it's just sticky with sea-salt particles stuck together."Or isn't it just that you haven't shaved your whiskers?" said the doctor, "Aho! The study began to believe!" he was scolded. At that time, I remember feeling uneasy as a person who was instructed to say, "Oh, how can I do that?"
More than 15 years have passed since then. When researching with nature, it has been noticed that something must be "believed" and "followed" by observation. When observations are being made, the results may not be obtained one by one, and the results may not be obtained if they are not continued for more than one year. At such times, you have to believe that "the huz is that you can get a great result and the results you expect."However, it is often betrayed by what you believe after more than a year of data. We have to go there. Given the reasons for the betrayal, we have to believe again that the real work begins and leads to new discoveries.
Believing is not limited to the research of a natural partner, isn't it? Let's believe without punishment, whether you are betrayed or betrayed. Don't begin by believing anything! (The name on the right side of the seat: Oki)
