  • Physical Chemistry

    • "Physical Chemistry" is the core of the fundamentals of chemistry.

      2nd semester (Fall Term)

      Wednesdays, 3-4 class periods

  • Course Objectives


    • On the basis of kinetic theory of atom and molecule, and the thermodynamics, you can get more understanding of concept of energy transfer, change and equilibrium of phase, chemical change, chemical equilibrium and chemical kinetics.

    • ・International system of unit (SI), Dimension, Dimensional analysis

      ・Properties of gas, Equation of state of ideal gas and real gas

      ・Kinetic theory of gas, Mean free path, Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution

      ・The first law of thermodynamics, The second law of thermodynamics, Helmholtz free energy

      ・Chemical potential, Three states of matter, Phase equilibrium, Phase change

      ・Phase equilibrium, Chemical equilibrium

      ・Chemical reaction kinetics
