  • Purpose of Lecture

In Biochemistry I, students learn the chemical structures of biomolecules and their various properties, which are important for the structure and function of living organisms, and to understand the importance of biomolecules in biochemical phenomena.

  • Course Goals

The following are the course goals in this lecture.

    1. An understanding and the ability to explain the structures of fundamental biomolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and nucleic acids
    2. An understanding and the ability to explain the chemical structures and properties of amino acids, fatty acids, sugars and bases which are structural units constituting fundamental biomolecules.
    3. An understanding and the ability to explain the functions and properties of structures composed of biomolecules such as biomembranes and organelles.
    4. An understanding and the ability to explain the structures and properties of DNA.

These are the basis for various studies in the Faculty of Fisheries on all living organisms (from marine microorganisms to fish, seaweeds, and humans).
