The
diatomaceous earth, ubiquitous clay mineral, suspension is placed in a beaker,
a biodegradable flocculant or aggregating agent made from soy protein is added,
and the beaker is stirred. When
the stirring is stopped, the fine clay particles form flocs, and promptly
settled.
