The Niskin water sampler (Niskin Bottle) is widely used worldwide to collect seawater for oceanographic research and surveys. It is said that Dr. Niskin, founder of General Oceanics, a company that manufactures and sells oceanographic instruments, invented the Niskin Bottle.
